Thorough assessment explicitly recognizes role of religion/ church in maintaining resiliency
Participantse access resiliency through one of the below organized religious bodies:
Christian Ritualized testimony (preaching/ shouting/ singing) as a foretaste and promise of ultimate liberation in some Afro American communities; Intimacy with the godhead through symbolic representation important to some Catholics; Expanding role of liberation theology fostering justice and witnessing God’s preferential option for the poor.
NonChristian: Buddhist emphasis on fate, and acceptance; Jewish identitiy as a people specially chosen by God.
Adolescent rejection of religious and other family values is developmentally appropriate and does not negate the critical role of religion and culture in maintaining resiliency. A family member may assume the important role of establishing the connection to church.
Dissension in the church could add to family stress. A badly fractured family unity may also experiencing alienation from religion or church. Healing may be possible through reintegration
